Flipkart to launch its own dual camera phone on November 15

After selling other company’s phones on its platform for years, Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart has now decided to bring its own smartphone. The company is launching its first smartphone on November 15 dubbed as Billion Capture +. The sale of the phone will start on the Flipkart on November 15 itself. There is no word on its pricing as of now.

If we talk about the highlight features of the phone, Flipkart seems to be touting it as a camera focused phone which is also suggested by its name and it sports a dual camera at the back. Moreover, the phone runs stock Android Nougat. The company has posted a teaser on its website with a hashtag #CaptureIndia and it also reveals some of the features of the phone.

Flipkart Billion Capture Plus Specifications

Flipkart didn’t clearly mention the specifications of the phone, however, the company has revealed some of the features from which we can speculate the features of the phone. The Billion Capture Plus features a full HD display. Interestingly Flipkart’s phone will be running stock Android. The company show in the teaser the phone will run on stock Android Nougat.

If we talk about hardware there is no information available. The company only teased that it will pack a superior processor for multitasking. Similarly, there is no clue how much RAM and storage it will have, however, the company is offering unlimited cloud storage with the phone.

In the camera department, which is also the highlighted feature of the phone, there is a dual camera setup at the back. There is a LED flash along with camera module and fingerprint sensor placed below it. At the front, it sports a single selfie camera. It is not clear yet what are the specs of the cameras. However, some of its features are, a super night mode and the dual camera will offer Bokeh effect as well.

The Billion Plus is supposed to have a big battery with fast charge support. The company has been shown in the teaser “Hours of battery with minutes of charging”. Moreover, there is a USB Type C port for charging.

There is no further information available about the phone’s other features and pricing. We will get to know more about the device when the phone is unveiled on November 15.

Xiaomi has announced the latest version of its customised Android-based user interface called as the MIUI 9 in India. The new MIUI 9 Global ROM will bring new and innovative features to the Xiaomi smartphones in India. The company has announced the list of smartphones eligible for the latest ROM upgrade. IT will start rolling out to select handset models from early November.
Xiaomi has promised that it will roll out the MIUI 9 ROM to the eligible devices by the end of this month. It has released the list of devices compatible with the new MIUI 9 version. The list includes the best-selling XIaomi mobiles like Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Xiaomi Mi 6, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite.

 Furthermore, the company has promised the update for budget mobiles such as Xiaomi Redmi 3, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, and Redmi 2 Prime. In addition, the company will also roll out the latest version of Xiaomi Mi 3 and Mi 2 which were launched before 2013.
The MIUI 9 was launched earlier this year in August alongside the Mi 5X smartphone. Now, the company released its global ROM. There are plenty of improvements and addition offered in the MIUI 9 version. The faster app loading time, split screen, new design, and lock screen shortcuts are the few features of the new version. Here are some other features.
It is one of the most useful features of the MIUI 9. Using this feature, the device set the system priority for the apps which are currently being used and will limit the other background apps. This will provide better app stability and performance.

Xiaomi has introduced several new themes on the MIUI 9. However, the India-exclusive theme is the talk-of-the-town these days. The theme uses India-specific design and icons. Moreover, the company has offered 8 India-specific cards in the new version.
The company has introduced new Indian festival cards under the Calendar app. It includes 25 festival cards inside the app. You will get cards likes of Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Rakshabandhan, and others.
The Xiaomi smartphones in India can now easily track the train status and other IRCTC-related queries while travelling. It has included IRCTC cards within the built-in Messaging app.

The MIUI 9 accelerates the system applications and launches as soon as the user touches the app icon. The company has compared this feature with the app launching time on other flagship smartphones.
It is a digital virtual assistance akin the Google Assistant. It is competent to perform all the basic tasks such as searching text, images, and others.
The Depth Search feature on the MIUI 9 allows users to sort hundreds of photographs on their Xiaomi mobiles. Users can search for images based on the time, location, and holiday. The company claims that the feature even works with screenshots.

The Redmi Y1 offers an outstanding selfie camera, and the rest of the hardware isn't all that bad either.
For Xiaomi, the Redmi series is the moneymaker. The manufacturer has focused its attention on the budget segment over the last twelve months, rolling out one hit after another in the Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4A, and the Redmi 4. The Redmi Note 4 turned out to be the best-selling phone in the country this year, followed by the Redmi 4 and the Redmi 4A.
With its latest handset, Xiaomi is looking to keep that momentum going. The Redmi Y1 offers the same great value for money as its siblings, but the defining characteristic of the phone is a 16MP front camera with LED flash. The camera is touted to be one of the best in this segment, and Xiaomi is confident enough in the phone's abilities that it is branching out the device into its own sub-brand in the Redmi series.

As for the naming convention, Xiaomi says the "Y" in Redmi Y denotes youth, with the phone aimed at a younger audience. The Redmi Y1 is identical to the Redmi Note 5A in a lot of areas, including the design. The phone certainly looks much more upmarket when seen next to the Redmi 4A and the Redmi 4, and is closer to the Redmi Note 4 in terms of the design aesthetic.
The device has a 5.5-inch 720p display, and is powered by the Snapdragon 435 chipset. Specs include 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB storage, Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n (you're limited to 2.4GHz), IR blaster, and a 3080mAh battery. There's also a dedicated slot for a microSD card along with two SIM card slots, so if you're using two SIM cards and an SD card, you no longer have to choose.
The 16MP front camera on the Redmi Y1 comes with a "LED Selfie" light, which according to Xiaomi mimics natural lighting conditions in low-light scenarios to deliver great selfies.
The Redmi Y1 also has a lot going for it on the software front. The phone is the first to run the global version of MIUI 9 out of the box, and Xiaomi has rolled out a ton of new features.
The Redmi Y1 will be going up for sale for ₹8,999 for the 32GB variant, and ₹10,999 for the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage

Nokia 2 Launched With 5-Inch Display And Snapdragon 212 Processor

After a series of leaks, HMD Global has today launched its latest entry-level smartphone, Nokia 2, at a press event in India.

Nokia 2 is the cheapest smartphone from the company so far. It comes with a 6,000 series aluminium frame and a polycarbonate body at the back.

The Nokia 2 features a 5-inch HD LTPS display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. There is a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection.

Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor, making it the first smartphone to run on Snapdragon 212. The processor is coupled with Adreno 304 GPU.

As of the camera department, it comes with an 8-megapixel rear facing autofocus camera with an LED flash and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Nokia has also included “Bothie” feature that allows users to use both front and rear cameras simultaneously.

However, the disappointing thing about the smartphone is its memory specs. It packs just 1GB of RAM and and only 8GB of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot which allows to expand storage upto 128GB.

The device is fuelled by a big 4,100mAh battery, which the company promises can provide two days of battery life on a single charge. It comes with IP52 certifications, meaning that the smartphone is splash proof.

Connectivity features on the device include Dual SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, and GPS / GLONASS.

Nokia 2 runs on the stock version of Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box, and comes with Google Assistant. The company says that this is the first smartphone in this price segment to feature Google Assistant. Nokia has also promised to update the device with Android 8.0 Oreo “shortly”.

The Nokia 2 has been priced at 99 Euros (~ $115). It will be available in three colour variants — Copper Black, Pure Black and White, and will go on sale from mid-November.
